About

With 3 bedrooms and 3 bath/shower rooms, sharing a holiday with friends and family is made ascomfortable as possible. Even the four legged members of the household are welcome.

The house is warm, welcoming and the perfect place to relax and enjoy the panorama of sea, islands and sky. As the cottage is only 5 miles from Tarbert and the ferry terminal, you are soon at your destination after what may have been a long journey but we can guarantee you will soon unwind and settle into "island time".

Drinishader is one of the many small crofting communities along what is known as The Golden Road which winds and twists through the East Coast of Harris - sometimes called The Bays because of its miniature fords. The road is a single track road that connects all the tiny hamlets which have Vikingor Gaelic names. The scenery is spectacular, encompassing what is sometimes described as a 'lunar' landscape, with rock that shines in the sun and beautiful lochs and inlets where seals bask on the rocks and a wide range of birds are to be seen.

Harris has some of the most astonishing beaches to be found in the whole of the British Isles so be sure to enjoy them at Luskentyre, Horgabost, Seilibost and Scarista - fabulous expanses of sand and dunes with the machair cloaked in meadow flowers from spring until late summer and all within easy reach.

For those who like to eat out we recommend the Harris Gin Distillery in Tarbert for lunch and The Pier Bistro on Scalpay for dinner (booking essential).

Hill walkers will appreciate being close to the North Harris Hills and kayakers can launch from the jetty in Drinishader.
