The wodburning stove ensures year round warmth and the views from the chalet are super. Harris is rich in wildlife and from Braemore it is easy to spot eagles and otters close to the house. Drive over the bridge and enjoy a meal at the award winning restaurant on Scalpay, North Harbour Bistro or, if you love shellfish, the owner , a fisherman, may well be able to provide you with a selection to eat at home.

On Harris you will find unspolit beaches, excellent cycling, hillwalking and coastal walking. There is a particularly attractive circular walk around Scalpay which takes in the Eilean Glas lighthouse, one of the earliest built. From here you have a stunning view across The Minch to the Isle of Skye.

Tarbert is where the Harris Gin Distillery is located and the cafe/restaurant serves delicious homemade food - as well as gin tastings in the distillery. Across from the distillery is the famous Harris Tweed Centre - ideal for picking up those special gifts or mementoes to take home.

Head down the south of the islands and experience the fabulous necklace of beaches or head northto the drama of the big hills. Stornoway is just an hour drive so exploring Lewis is easily achievable.Whatever you do - come back to the warm welcome of Braemore Chalet and enjoy the peace.
