About

As the majority of island visitors head for the Isles of Harris and Lewis (and quite understandably as they are all different but equally fascinating islands in their own right) the Uists are less explored, often being used as a drive through between Barra and Harris. But for those prepared to stop a while, untold treasures await.

Driving up the one main road from South Uist to North Uist, the car traveller would be unaware ofthe 20 miles of fine, sand beaches and machair (flower strewn dunes) paralleling the road less than a mile to the west. Beach View Cottage overlooks the beach beginning this wonderful expanse of wild coastline. From here you can experience or see sunsets and sunrises, beach walks, phenomenal wildlife and outstanding flora and fauna. Where else can you look out of your window and see otters running over the beach and deer running wild. The cottage overlooks the Island of Barra and the views are breathtaking. What better way to stay and explore a very special and stunningly beautiful part of the Outer Hebrides.

South Uist is the second largest of the Outer Hebridean islands measuring approximately 22 miles North to South and 8 miles east to West.

The house is spacious, modern yet unique and comfortable and your well behaved dog is welcome too.
