About

Fir Chlis is a detached, architect-designed beachhouse, which provides the perfect luxury retreat for either a couple, family, or group of friends. The house Is in Seilebost on Harris’s west coast, with 270-degree views over the white sands of Luskentyre Beach and the North Harris hills beyond.

The open-plan living-area, which is designed to bring the outdoors indoors, takes up the first floor with a comfortable lounge, dining-area and fully-equipped kitchen, with dishwasher and oven/hob. There is a separate snug that can be converted into sleeping accommodation, with its adjacent cloakroom becoming an en-suite with its own shower. The first floor is completed by a large balcony for relaxing and enjoying the spectacular sunsets. The house is furnished with a range of art and crafts from the Hebrides as well as further afield as well as an extensive library of local books.

Fir Chlis is connected directly to the fibre-network offering an extremely fast, reliable broadband connection that supports streaming services and video-conferencing. There are built-in speakers throughout the top floor, so you can play music into all four corners. The snug incorporates a projector for family movie-nights with a range of (mainly Scottish) DVDs as well as awork-space for those who need to stay in touch with the outside world. We have left the bedrooms as a retreat from modern media, so they do not have televisions (though you can stream via the Wi-Fi network onto your laptop).

Downstairs are three comfortable bedrooms including a master bedroom with its own en-suite shower room. The other two bedrooms (one double and one twin, which can convert to a double) share the main bathroom with a full-size bath and separate shower. All bed linen and towels are included in the rental. There is a large utility room with washing machine and dryer to take care of wet clothes, when Harris has one of its rare rainy days. There are two kayaks for paddling around the inlet in front of the house.

Park the car at the end of the crocosmia-lined driveway, drop your bags, grab an Isle of Harris gin or a treat from the welcome goodie-bag and get yourself onto Harris-time relaxing on the balcony watching a classic Hebridean sunset over Taransay or stretching out on the sofa while delving into a book about the islands’ history.
