About

Sundew catch and digest insects on their leaves to suplement their nutrient intake. They have flat leaves with prominant hairs that help trap insects. There are three different species growing on Harris: round-leaved, oblong-leaved, and great sundew. All species grow in peaty soil.

Close inspection of the plants will usually reveal the remains of midges or other small insects trapped on the leaves.
