When to visit?

The eagle species are seen throughout the year.

Spotting Tip

Eagles are most easily spotted as they break the skyline, so frequent scanning of the ridge lines is the best way to spot them.

Other wildlife

Lapwing, redshank and snipe breed on the surrounding croft land whilst the plaintive calls of golden plover can be heard on the moorland ridges.

How to get there?

Take the turnoff to Craigston from the circular A888 on west coast of Barra. The turnoff is three miles north of Castlebay and 6 miles from the Sound of Barra ferry terminal.
